Nowadays, anything goes when it comes to wedding style. While we love a classic white wedding dress and black tux, long gone are the days where that was the only option. We love when a bride goes for a daring and stylish wedding look. That could be anything from floral prints and dramatic trains to sheer gloves and bridal hats. In this blog, we’re featuring Alisha and Braden’s wedding where our bride wore the most stunning and romantic blush pink wedding dress. As if the color wasn’t enough, her dress featured airy layers of tulle and gorgeous floral appliques. In this blog, we’ll talk about picking your perfect bridal trends, the most important factors when choosing your wedding gown and of course, share more photos from this magical day.

Choosing the Right Bridal Trends

Trends within the bridal industry are constantly changing. This can make it difficult to find a dress that you feel fits your style while also looking timeless in your wedding day photos. First and foremost, while we love new and fun trends, you never want to pick a wedding day style that doesn’t feel authentic to you. This is your day and your look should reflect that!

That being said, this year’s brides are giving a modern and fresh update to some old school trends. Take our featured wedding for example, our bride Alisha went with a classic long sleeve silhouette with a beautiful tulle skirt. The twist? The most stunning pink wedding dress. This vibrant hue gives a fresh feel to a traditional wedding look. I love working with brides that have a creative artistic vision and fully support anyone wanting to step out of the box a bit. Let’s make it happen!

Other bridal trends we’re loving this season? Cool bridal accessories like elbow-length gloves and wide brim hats are making a major comeback. Not only are we seeing colorful dresses this season, but brides are also rocking printed wedding gowns. Pearl embellishments and floral appliques are also a fun trend that can take your look up a notch without feeling overwhelming.

Wedding Gown 101

Finding your wedding dress can be one of the most fun and stressful parts of the wedding planning process. It feels impossible to choose one dress out of all the stunning options out there. Here’s some tips from your wedding photographer about how to choose the right dress

Choose a dress that pairs well with the other elements of your wedding day

  • For example, does this gown fit my venue or location? If you’re going for a rustic outdoor vibe, a billowing tulle ball gown might not be the best fit. We have lots of bride who want to shoot outdoors in the mountains with a tulle dress, and we end up cleaning lots of bugs and dirt out of the layers of their tulle dress! Same goes for your wedding theme or aesthetic. If you’ve decided on a garden party theme, that boho lace wedding gown might clash with some of your other design elements. Make sure you also consider the season and climate where your wedding will be happening. If you’re anticipating hot and humid weather, picking a heavy or long sleeve gown could make for an uncomfortable day.

Make sure your look compliments your partner

  • Whether you’re going for a super formal gown or a more casual look, make sure your partner’s ensemble fits that vibe as well. It will make all the difference in your wedding portraits and give you a cohesive look. Our bride in this blog post made a bold statement with her pink wedding gown, and her partner’s classic black tux is the perfect compliment. Even adding a little twist of his own with a velvet textured jacket.

Comfort is key!

  • This isn’t always the most fun piece of advice, but trust us, it’s the most important! You might love that form fitting lace look, but the fact that you’re not able to sit down in it will be a problem. Most brides wear their dress for the entirety of their wedding day, so that means you’ll be in it for 10 plus hours. If you’re uncomfortable in your dress, that will also translate in your photos. If you have your heart set on a gown that might have a few restrictions, consider changing for your reception so you can comfortably enjoy dancing with your guests.

At the end of the day, trends don’t matter

  • Bridal trends are fun, but they’re just that. They come and go each and every season. What’s important is that your wedding day style feels authentic to you. If you’re someone who likes to take fashion risks, then by all means, rock that bridal trend you’re loving! If you’re someone with a more classic style, choosing a simple but enhanced look will make you feel like the best version of yourself on your big day! You truly can’t go wrong as long as you stay true to yourself and what you like.

Salt Lake City Chic Wedding

Now for the main highlight of this post, Alisha and Braden’s stunning wedding day in Salt Lake City, Utah! This couple went with a classic yet updated wedding style that paired together beautifully. Their formal portraits taken at the Thomas S. Monson Center served as the perfect backdrop. As if our bride’s pink wedding dress wasn’t stunning enough, the changing fall leaves outside of the Salt Lake Temple added another layer of vibrant color. Pops of pink throughout the reception decor, bridal bouquet and floral wedding cake brought the whole look together seamlessly. See the rest of their gallery below!
