Erin and Shawn planned an Oregon coast elopement in Manzanita, Oregon. This coastal city offers much more than its beach and beautiful scenery. It’s also known for its history, art, and delicious eats.
A few days before the wedding I packed up my car and my dog, Koda, to hit the road. The bride and groom were road-tripping from Utah with their dog as well and found us a pet-friendly hotel. Our road trip started in Salt Lake City and the first stop was my hometown in Boise, Idaho. Koda and I then stopped in Portland, OR for gluten-free beer, food, and a nice walk through some neighborhoods.
Our hotel in Manzanita was located right on the coastline. The views were absolutely stunning and we made it just in time to catch the sunset. Erin and Shawn treated the officiant and myself to a nice dinner the night before the wedding which gave us the chance to get familiar and enjoy each other’s company. We were the only ones present for the wedding, so it was important for the couple to ensure that we all connected prior to and during our travels.
The morning of the wedding day I had the honor of helping Erin with her hair and drove with her and Shawn to set up their sunrise ceremony location that they scouted earlier. It was so special to see how present Shawn and Erin were able to be with each other leading up to and on their wedding day. They were so happy to share their commitment in such an intimate setting. The location itself was breathtaking, making it even more of a memorable experience.
They did have a reception a month after their ceremony with friends and family to celebrate. However, having the elopement as the start of their journey together was everything they wanted and that’s what’s most important.
