One unexpected bridal trend coming out of this season was the floral wedding dress. We love this updated take on floral lace for a modern and fresh bridal look. In this session featured on Green Wedding Shoes, our bride wore an embroidered floral wedding dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline. Complimented by a natural bridal makeup look and long flowing waves, this bride style is perfect for a spring or garden party theme wedding. Add a meadow full of blooming wildflowers and you can almost hear Tom Petty singing “you belong among the wildflowers.” In this blog, you’ll find the details of this stunning bridal look and we’ll share some trend predictions for next season. And of course show you all the photos from this unique wildflower bridal session!
It’s no surprise that the star of this session was this off-the-shoulder gown covered in colorful embroidered flowers designed by Natalie Wynn. Natalie makes a limited number of custom gowns per year, made personally in her studio in Salt Lake City, Utah. A “custom” or “bespoke” gown is a one-of-a-kind gown designed especially for one unique customer, and made to fit.
As someone who opted to work with a designer to create my custom wedding gown, it’s an experience that I highly recommend. It’s such a fun and creative opportunity to work closely with a designer and bring your wedding dress vision to life. If the thought of designing your own dress makes you feel overwhelmed, don’t worry. Your designer will be there to help every step of the way to help take your ideas and turn them into your dream dress. Having my dress custom made was definitely one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process and something you should absolutely consider!
When wearing a unique or statement dress like the floral wedding dress in this session, keeping your hair and makeup simple can help keep your look balanced. For this shoot, our bride kept her look classic and timeless with her long hair in loose waves and natural bridal makeup with fluttery lashes and glowing skin. A soft glam bridal makeup look goes perfectly with just about any dress style you choose. Thinking a bold look is more your style? This embroidered floral wedding dress would also look amazing with a bright lip color for a fun look.
We also love the idea of including floral inspired hair accessories or jewelry to tie it all together. If the idea of a floral wedding dress doesn’t quite fit your style, consider a veil with floral appliques or embroidery. Best of both worlds! A floral print shoe can also help you achieve this look without committing to a floral print wedding dress. Here’s a few floral bridal accessories we love:
One of my favorite parts of wedding season each year is seeing what trends my brides will be rocking on their wedding days. Floral dresses emerged this year and I definitely think we’ll be seeing more of this trend in 2023. Not just for the bride though. I also saw bridesmaids in mismatched floral prints this year which looked absolutely beautiful. Not to mention, florals are always in style and can make for a unique and vintage-inspired look.
Another trend that I think we’ll be seeing more of is pearl details! Pearl details on your wedding dress, sprinkled throughout your veil, or adorned on your shoes or in your jewelry. No matter what you choose, pearls make for such a timeless bridal look. If you’re a bold bride looking to make a statement, mock neck wedding dresses and two piece bridal looks are already trending for 2023. We absolutely love seeing a bride embrace her true style and take a fun fashion risk on their big day!
