When someone comes to me wanting to plan a surprise proposal for their partner, more often than not, they have no idea where to go from there. They have the perfect engagement ring, they have a dreamy vision, but they’re not sure how to bring it to life. And I can’t blame them! This is such a special and important moment. You want everything to be absolutely perfect, and coordinating a moment like that can feel intimidating.
But that’s the beauty of hiring a proposal photographer, which is exactly what Tyler did when he knew he wanted to propose to his girlfriend Lauren on their holiday getaway to Park City, Utah. Tyler and I were able to take his vision for a surprise engagement in the snow-capped mountains and execute an unforgettable proposal. We even had time for some downtown winter engagement photos in Park City. We definitely made the most of this session and in this blog, I’ll cover my favorite Park City proposal location, what’s included in my proposal photography package, and more insight on my specific planning process to help bring your vision to life…
For Park City proposal locations, I always recommend using the Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley Resort. This spot truly allows for everything to go seamlessly and also has so many beautiful options for winter engagement photo locations. Plus, since it’s a popular ski destination, I can easily blend in and find spots to hide so we don’t ruin the surprise. Oh and if I forgot to mention, it’s a literal winter wonderland.
Deer Valley also offers a romantic sleigh ride experience through the mountains and trust me when I tell you, it’s the dreamiest winter proposal setting imaginable. If you decide to go this route, I’ll correspond with the sleigh ride company to make sure everything goes smoothly and we’re all on the same page. All you have to do is worry about asking your partner if they want to spend the rest of their life with you. We’ve got the rest!
Now that you’re narrowing in on your proposal plan, you’re probably wondering exactly how this will go down. We’ve scouted the perfect location, decided on the best time of day for lighting, and booked any additional experiences like the sleigh ride. Now it’s time for the big moment. If we go with a proposal at the lodge, I’ll find a spot to remain hidden and place a subtle marker (like a rose or stone) on the spot where you should stand. I’ll look for the queue we’ve establish and then, it’s all up to you! Same thing goes for the sleigh ride, we’ll create a cue with the team and when the moment comes, you’ll ask the big question. No matter which route you go, I’ll be there to capture the moment as it’s happening along with you and your partner’s genuine reaction and emotions.
After the proposal we’ll pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate and take some winter engagement photos! As you’ll see below, transportation to another location is included in my proposal package. Whether it’s another ski resort or downtown Park City decorated for the holidays, heading to a second location will add some variety to our session and maximize our time together.
My Park City proposal photography package makes the planning process a lot easier than you thought it would be. Communication is key when it comes to pulling off a surprise proposal, and that’s why you have me at your fingertips to help throughout the entire process. I really want you to focus on your partner and this life-changing moment, not worry about how you’re getting to the next destination or whether the champagne is on ice. So here’s what you can expect to be included when you book me for your Park City proposal…
“Megan was absolutely amazing! She took the best engagement photos and made us feel so special. HIGHLY recommend.” -Lauren
