Megan is a natural light photographer with a focus in weddings, lifestyle, travel and editorial work. Inspiration for Megan’s images stems from her Guatemalan heritage mixed with her love for nature while seeking out light, texture, color and movement in her imagery. Her initial love for the medium of photography developed as she took a dark room course in high school. She bought her first camera from an antique shop and was instantaneously attached; capturing her day-today on black and white frames. In 2009 she determined to open a photography studio and spent the next 12 months studying business, the nature of wedding photography and building her portfolio. Since opening her business, she has been fortunate to travel to Europe, Hawaii, Central America and all over the US for her weddings and editorials. Megan’s work can be seen in magazines and campaigns for Wedding UK, Mingle, FOLK, Lemonade and Lenses, Greencraft, Darling, REI and local Mountain West publications. In addition, her imagery has also been featured on Bridal Guide, BRIDES, Style Me Pretty, Wedding Sparrow, Green Wedding Shoes, The Wedding Chicks, Belle Lumiere, Wedding Russia, Wedding Flowers UK, Magnolia Rouge and more.
In 2012, Megan held her first Workshop in Ibiza, Spain for aspiring and established photographers with an overview of business workflow, marketing strategies, shooting and editing techniques, and two on-site shoots. Since then she has continued to offer 1:1 mentorships for photographers. In 2016 Megan held her second workshop in Park City, Utah as a part of the first of her new series “The Themed Workshop.” Kate with Magnolia Rouge sponsored and traveled to speak at the event from New Zealand, additional sponsors were The FIND Lab, Mastin Labs, Foil & Ink and Ixchel Triangle. The Themed Workshops focus on a specific niche of the wedding photography business industry instead of going over everything all at one. The goal of these classes is to provide an in-depth overview with useful tools to expand their businesses from marketing and branding strategies, shooting and editing processes, business workflow and organization as well as client relationships and pricing models. In Fall 2016, Megan moved to Park City, UT to call the mountains home. In her free time she enjoys running, climbing, hiking with her dog, flamenco dancing, visiting local coffee shops, spending time with loved ones and traveling. -By Ann Huston
Building a photography business isn’t easy, and it doesn’t happen over night; that’s why we created The Themed Workshop Series. This platform was designed to provide photographers with lessons and tools that contribute to improving their craft. Each of these events has a different theme such as branding & marketing, business workflow, hybrid film/digital shooting as well as client relations and pricing structures. Our goal with these courses is to help you create your best work as an artist while performing your best as a business owner.
